MY BIO |
Master Certified Coach, author, advice columnist, speaker and teacher, Michele Woodward has the ability to help people get clear about who they are and what they want to do -- and develop a workable action plan to get where they want to go.
She is the author of Lose Weight, Find Love, De-Clutter & Save Money: Essays on Happier Living, available at Amazon.com and also writes an advice column at the fast-growing web presence for women: BettyConfidential.com. She's a sought-after speaker, leads a number of workshops and classes and writes a popular blog.
As President of her own consulting firm prior to becoming a coach, Michele provided marketing, strategic planning and public relations advice to clients from growing dot-com businesses. Clients included technology and software start-ups, content-related websites and law firms.
Before starting her consulting business, Michele was with the Wexler Group, a leading lobbying and public affairs firm in Washington, DC. As Senior Vice President and registered lobbyist at the US Congress, she advised corporate clients on political matters and developed effective campaigns to meet specific legislative or public relations objectives, integrating personal contacts, press relations, polling, coalition building and direct mail.
Michele was Lead Press Advance in the Reagan White House, constructing some of the memorable photo opportunities of that presidency, and has been an advanceman for George H.W. Bush, Elizabeth Dole, Maureen Reagan, Dan Quayle and other public figures in the 1984, 1988, 1992 and 1996 national presidential campaigns. She was also Director of Press Advance for Dole for President '88, coordinating the national press on the campaign plane.
Recently, she was honored to serve as a principal organizer of the State Funeral of President Gerald R. Ford. She previously organized the State Funeral of President Ronald Reagan, heading ticketing and staffing operations for all events in Washington, DC.
She began her career at Miller Brewing Company working in college and young adult marketing shortly after graduating in 1982 from Virginia Tech with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in Marketing.
Michele is a past PTA president, and remains active in her children's schools. She has been a Girl Scout Leader, a Cub Scout volunteer, assistant soccer coach, and a mentor to girl golfers. |

| "I had heard of life coaching through a friend and while a bit skeptical, I searched on line for a "coach" who might help guide me through a stage where I welcomed not only career advice, but life directional advice as well. I came upon Michele's website and was, quite frankly, impressed with her credentials and yet the overall down-to-earth nature which came across in her writing. I found Michele to be not only very approachable, but very wise for (what I think is!) her age. A very good listener, Michele was able to quickly ascertain and summarize for me what my issues or roadblocks seemingly were; to put a voice to the things I intuitively felt were going on, but could not verbalize myself. Together we created goals, both career-wise and other, and followed my progress. Each time we talked I felt there were kernels of wisdom there; things I had not thought of before. A survey of my core values has helped remind me about where I am headed in life and how to change course if necessary. I recommend Michele as a life coach for both men and women as she is intuitive, helps one strategize and develop tactics, and as she is someone who can help you see the broader picture of your life when you might be bogged down by the daily details." |

| Lisa, Senior HR Executive: |
| "I was struggling with a job search. I contacted Michele who quickly helped me realize that I was wrestling with a broader issue - where did I want to be (geographically). She guided me through a solid decision-making process about relocation and then suggested presenting my current employer with a business case as to the mutual benefit of allowing me to relocate my job as well. I am now happily living and working (same employer) in the DC area!" |

| Sally (business owner): |
| "Working with Michele helped me to take my vision for growing my business to the next level -- reality. Michele asks powerful questions, and answering them has pushed me to get off my butt and create a cohesive action plan that builds on my strengths, has already uncovered new products and services to offer my clients, and balances 'business' with the rest of my life." |
 |
| Colin (business owner): |
| "When I first came to Michele I was at a personal crossroads. While I loved my marriage and my career and my life in general, I wasn't happy; and had no idea how to get out of the funk. Michele helped me to recognize what was going well in my life, what wasn't going quite so right. She offered perspective that good friends or family couldn't give - because she came to me as an unbiased observer of my life. With her guidance, I began to recognize small triumphs, and how important those little victories are towards greater self-worth. She let me discover and explore my faults and pitfalls in a safe way, and how best to deal with them (and use them to my advantage). I can honestly say that I am better for having known Michele, that she was a positive force in my life." |
 |
| Shelby (business owner, community leader): |
| "Michele gives me honest, non-judgmental feedback. Whether we have talked about career issues or more personal matters, I can count on Michele to give me a new, fresh perspective. With the life she has lived, she completely relates to me and my experiences and gives me great insight. I really enjoy having Michele on my team." |
 |
| Betsey, (small business executive): |
| "My sincere gratitude to Michele for continually helping me focus on the minute details where I seem to be stuck at that given moment. She has a rare talent in helping others accept those "stuck" spots yet identifying what it is that makes us most uncomfortable with them. Since she's coached me, she has helped me identify those spots and turn them into positives." |
 |
| Ellen (divorced empty-nester, starting a new career): |
| "I experienced immediate reception and understanding in just minutes with Michele. Her coaching took me to my own sense of acceptance and capability, which I had been blocking, creating a stagnation in moving forward in my career. Michele is an accomplished life coach and offers unlimited compassion along with her experienced and intuitive coaching skills." |
 |
| Nerissa (professional musician): |
| "Being with Michele is like being with your best friend, your sagest advisor and the mother you wish you had, all rolled into one. She creates a safe space and has the uncanny ability to make anyone feel at ease. I would trust her with anything and anyone." |
 |
| Wendy (association executive in transition): |
| "After a decade as the Executive Director of a multi-million dollar international association of chief executives, I decided it was time to move on. I needed new challenges and solid advice on pursuing a new career path that would meet my needs on both professional and personal fronts. During this critical transition time, Michele has been an important part of my journey. She has helped me to focus my priorities, leverage my strengths, and understand how to handle my weaknesses. She has an intuitive ability to ask the right questions and get directly to the heart of the matter." |
 |
| Jen (recently divorced, new job): |
| "Thank you so much for all of your support and encouragement. I've truly enjoyed working with you. I am so excited about the opportunities ahead of me and feel that I'm able to face them with openness and confidence. That is something I wouldn't have been able to do 6 months ago. You have helped me through so much and I wouldn't be in such a great place in my life right now if it weren't for your guidance." |
